Welcome to Chestnut
The Rev. Robert M. "Chappy" Chapman, II

Thank you for taking a moment to check out our website. The process of trying to discover a local church congregation where you feel comfortable and received is important for your spiritual life. Certainly, there are many factors to consider in "shopping around" for a church. Is the congregation friendly? Are there any young families with children? Are the worship services meaningful with messages relevant to my daily life? So take your time, explore our website, and if we spark your interest, please visit us on a Sunday morning.

Chestnut is a strong, medium sized congregation. With two worship services, we average 225 people each Sunday. Like yourself, you will discover individuals who are new, having attended for just a few weeks. You may find them in our Welcome Center sipping coffee and sharing a doughnut with someone who has been here for over 75 years. We offer two worship services each Sunday. The 9 a.m. Praise Service features guitars, drums and singers, and is immediately followed by church school beginning at 10:05 a.m. Our Traditional Service, featuring hymns from the United Methodist Hymnal, is led by our wonderful organist and choir and begins at 11:15 a.m. From missions to music, Bible study to softball, food pantry service and Scouting ministries, from dinner theater to karaoke, from a knitting guild to a cardmaking ministry, and always within a Christian framework, Chestnut is a committed congregation of friendly people who work hard in advancing the mission of Christ within our community.

I will do my best to provide you a sanctuary of pastoral care, whereby you will feel safe and welcomed for who you are. My foundational goal is to be fully inclusive regardless of race, ethnicity, age, special needs, and LGBTQ+ persons. Wherever you might be on your spiritual journey, my job and great joy is to receive you as Godís beloved, and for everyone to be treated in a Christian spirit of kindness, grace and holiness.
