UM Women

The purpose of United Methodist Women is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of missions through participation in the global ministries of the church.

"The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter; He [God] utters His voice, the earth melts. The LORD of
hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge."
—Psalm 46:6-7

As I pen this article, I am alarmed by the situation in Ukraine. Here is a statement from our UMW CEO and Gen. Sec., Harriett Jane Olson:"United Methodist Women are watching this Russian aggression against the Ukraine in horror and in fervent prayer. We have worked for years with women's peace networks in Eastern Europe and we stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian women and people against this unjustified invasion and war. The loss of life, human suffering and displacement that have already begun create disproportionate harm to the
region's women and children." Just pray!

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
— Philippians 4:6-7

Chestnut Memorial has had a rich history of women working together in the name of Jesus Christ through United Methodist Women. Our members work and advocate for the voiceless, mentally challenged and much more, with a particular emphasis on supporting women, children and youth. Our world is our mission field and we promote growth and renewal in a relationship with Christ.
