UM Women

The purpose of United Methodist Women is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of missions through participation in the global ministries of the church.

No meetings scheduled for July. General membership meetings will resume in September.

“I am content to fill a little space if God be glorified.”

― Susanna Wesley

As UMW members we are constantly working on the issue of racial justice. Our charter declares we are a nation of many different races, nationalities, languages and cultures. This charter was adopted in 1980 by the whole Methodist denomination. We understand that racism is the use of power for maintaining advantages and systematic discrimination from institutions that deny access to education, employment, housing, social services and other rights and benefits of society either by law or custom. This is our calling, to advocate for equality for all. We are not many in our unit, but we can do great things for racial justice through Jesus Christ, and give honor and glory to God Almighty!

Please stay in contact with each other the summer. I pray you will remain safe and blessed with His joy!

Note: UMW Circle meetings are currently on hold, pending our return to in-person worship. The Executive Board Meetings and General Membership meetings are being held via Zoom. For the meeting-ID and password, contact Jo Rawls.

Chestnut Memorial has had a rich history of women working together in the name of Jesus Christ through United Methodist Women. Our members work and advocate for the voiceless, mentally challenged and much more, with a particular emphasis on supporting women, children and youth. Our world is our mission field and we promote growth and renewal in a relationship with Christ.
